Ninja turtle Fifth Birthday Shoot | Hartford Orchard
Harper’s birthday was last Monday and we got to celebrate with her at her Ninja Turtle Themed party yesterday, so it reminded me to write a blog about this big personality!
With at least 8 shoots behind us from newborn to birthdays to family pictures, Brittanie, Harper’s mom, and I had her shoot on the schedule, but weren’t sure where to have the session. A few weeks before her session, I started scouting and kept falling short and just felt uninspired. Just DAYS before her session I checked on the Apple trees at a local orchard and the early trees were in bloom!
We decided bloom season at Hartford Apple Orchard was the perfect backdrop for the big five birthday! [I mean that’s a whole hand of fingers old!]
Harper is wild. She’s assertive and bold. She’s energetic and decisive. She’s been hard to keep up with since she was two! This shoot was a little different. She was calm and polite, relaxed and a little shy for her fifth birthday session. It was easy. I could have been done shooting in the first 5 minutes, but I didn’t want to be, so of course I over shot.
Ninja turtles and tutus? She started out in her custom birthday outfit by Mommy Makes me Sparkle and changed into her staple cowgirl boots and finished up in a maxi dress from Bailey’s Blossom, with her mom, for a mini tea party [lemonade and girlfriend CHUGGED]. Her dad was even a great sport and participated in the tea party. We ended the evening with some fun family shots. I’m glad we kept going because her energetic spirit came out and before we knew she was climbing trees and showing us what new finger tricks daddy taught her…. oh and eating dandelions! Haha!
To Harper- thank you for always being so YOU at your shoots and for including us in celebrating the amazing little girl that you are!
