Newborn Brother Cole | North Bloomfield, OH
The Bilas’s are one of my regulars. I photograph them every year, not usually for the same reason; birthday and family sessions have been what we did in the past, but in 2019 we changed it up a little. This year I got to see them twice! Once for maternity pictures and then again, just this week, for their sweet new boy’s newborn session.
Colton was born 3 weeks early, so mama, Jess, didn’t have their outfits lined up for their newborn session [but she did have her hospital bags packed, luckily!]. So, we spent the evening before her session hashing out outfit ideas, mixing and matching pieces that I have on hand to what she had in their closests and I’m kind of obsessed with the color pallet of their family photos [and their entire session].
Cole was awake for the family set, and big sis, Alexa, and I worked hard to get him to sleep for their sibling shots together. She was the best helper and we got him to sleep after a bottle and some sister snugs. Once I finished up family shots, I worked with baby Colton in some newborn prop poses with navy blue to match his nursery.
While I was working on a green and plaid Christmas pose on a wooden sled, this little guy woke up again!! He didn’t let me do a ton of poses, but man, he looked right at the camera and It may be my favorite shot of the day!
I was getting some vibes from Cole that he just wanted to chill for the day. I noticed that he abruptly woke up anytime he was unwrapped or if I tried to move him around too much. I tried for a pose in a little boy romper, but after being changed into it, he woke up and took another half bottle only to stay awake. I just felt like he wasn’t very comfy with what I was trying for, so we went back to wraps. This little boy was perfectly content with that, and so was I!
He did so good falling into a nice deep sleep in his wraps and let me do poses on sage and nude fabrics. He even let me get his little feet unwrapped to photograph every single one of his little details for mom and dad to keep tiny forever.
Cole was a joy to work with and I love getting to catch up with Jess and Jared during sessions to talk about anything from motherhood to life’s nonsense and everything in between. I’m especially loving how much Lex opens up to me more and more, each time I see her. I’m so excited to watch Colton grow with his big sis, but if time could just sloooow down and let these babies stay little, longer, that’d be wonderful, am I right?
Congrats to the Bilas’s, Party of four!
