I have an over flow of newborns in the month of October [now I know what y’all were doing last January! ;P], so I’m going to try to stay ahead of my sessions with a quick turn around time and adorable blog posts. But also, I was SUPER excited to edit this session.
Big bro Owen was sporting Dino pants complete with his own personal T-Rex sound effects and had his Grammy with him for smile support [and a ride to Pappy’s after]. Mom, Jenna, and I got to work dressing the kids for their pictures and I got every one in place for their family photo. Owen made it one and half poses before deciding Grammy was more fun than me, but we caught a cute moment between him and his new sis. Not only is this family full of beautiful humans, but Harper snuggled right into her parents for their individual photos.
After family photos I quickly got to work setting Harper up in some prop poses.
Fun[ny] Fact: I send out a questionnaire to all of my clients that helps me prepare for the session and gauge their preferences. One of the questions is “Are you comfortable having baby photographed nude?“. In Jenna’s week of sleep deprivation, she answered no to that question. I didn’t think twice about it, I just knew would have harper dressed for most of her images. At some point during the session I asked them if it was okay if I only covered her bum instead of her whole body, since they preferred no nude photos. Jenna looked at me like I grew another head…. She thought I meant her and James would be nude when she was answering her questionnaire! Haha!
Harper was such a strong willed little babe the day of her session. Mom and dad said that preparations for the session went unbelievably well and they were looking forward to how sleepy she would be for her session. Well, despite coming in sleepy, she spent nearly 2 hours cluster feeding and complaining about me. After a little over 2 hours into the session I asked Harper if we could just be friends and explained that I’ll win any fight she wants to pick. She needed a whole pose to think over what I said, and then decided it was best for everyone to listen. ;] Little girl fell asleep two and half hours into her session and then she let me do anyyyything I wanted with her. I got so many great poses for the end of her session; it was pure magic.
Such a big thank you to The Gray Family for choosing me to document the arrival of their newest member. What an honor it is to give clients like this their first official family photo and sweet memories of their new babies!
