Milestone Session | Baby Girl 6 Months

We zipped right through Henley’s milestone session. At this age, 4-9 months old, wake windows are small. When you factor in drive time to the studio, our window for getting baby warmed up to me and the camera, is teeny tiny.

I plan these sessions immediately after a wake up in the first half of the day. So, first thing in the morning or right after their first nap. I also encourage parents to give bottles/meals in the studio to allow for that extra time getting used to me and the space. Of course every baby is different, I preach “baby is boss“ around here. —just please don’t tell my own baby that! But these steps are the best I’ve got for us to coax some grins out your sweet little baby who is also entering the season of stranger danger.

Henley absolutely thrived. Her parents were able to stand directly behind me, doing some crazy motions and noises, and got all kinds of smiles from their baby girl.

Right at that 30 minute mark end time, Henley was running out of steam. She didn’t want to sit alone and play this game anymore. She wanted held. Right before calling it, I suggested mom sing a song that Henley likes or is familiar with. Chelsea started softly singing Twinkle, Twinkle, and, friends, this sweet girl sat perfectly still and just watched her mama sing through the song, twice, all while giving the best little grins.

These sessions are perfect for capturing the chubby cheeks, fingers and toes and maybe even some smiles of your growing baby, but the moments that happen in the studio help make the experience what it is: moments that turn into core memories.
