A Flu and Germ Season PSA

All of the stressors listed above are already weighing on new parents’ hearts about where to go and where not to go for the holidays. Throw a baby into the mix and it’s possible to desire spending Christmas at home, even more so. A common cold can be deadly to a child, but especially to babies under 9 months old or immobile babies. You know, that baby that we hold and squeeze and kiss and coddle… THOSE babies do not need to be at the holiday dinner or the family gift exchange, and the new parents do not need peer pressured with a guilt trip or any sideways comments to be present.

This is your season of life, one year olds don’t smile on que, toddler boys don’t sit still, toddler girls have attitudes [or is that just mine?]. A perfectly curated photo hanging on your wall will look great today, but let’s be real, a drool covered baby, laughing in pure joy because you’ve pinned him with tickles is so much sweeter to keep forever.

About two years ago, I had an overwhelming desire for LESS. Less stuff, less money spent, less on my to-list, less stress. I began getting rid of anything that I could. In the process, I learned how much I had that I didn’t ever need and how much that we could actually live without. My first purge of “things” in our home, hurt. I got rid of items that were expensive and purchased for our children, but they just weren’t practical for keeping around based off of their amount of use.
